Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi is a Kenyan politician and economist who represented Kimilili Constituency in the National Assembly under the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in the 9th Parliament, during which he served as Kenya's Minister of Trade and Industry from 2002 to 2007. He later became Chief Executive of the Kenya Institute of Governance in Nairobi before his appointment as Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), a post he held from September 2013 until February 2021, when he stepped down to run for the Kenyan presidency. He dropped that presidential bid in March 2022 to support former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, capping a career spanning national legislative politics, cabinet government, and international diplomacy.
